Located at latitude 11°37′ and longitude 75°30′, Chombal Harbour is an artificial basin situated in the picturesque town of Vadakara. This harbor serves as an important maritime infrastructure in the region, providing various facilities and amenities to support local fishing and commercial activities. Accessible via NH-17, Chombal Harbour was sanctioned by the Government of India and the Government of Kerala in early 1992, with a total budget of Rs. 556 lakhs.

The Chombal Harbour is open for 24 hours a day. There is no specific time for fish sale.
Chombal Harbour Infrastructure
Spanning an area of 12.54 hectares, the Chombal Harbour basin offers ample space for docking and maneuvering vessels. The harbor is protected by two breakwaters, with the first breakwater measuring 810 meters in length and the second breakwater measuring 375 meters. These breakwaters play a vital role in shielding the harbor from the powerful ocean waves, ensuring a safe and calm environment for vessels.
While the land area available within the harbor measures 2.72 hectares, there is currently no dedicated quay length. However, the harbor features several other essential facilities to cater to the needs of fishermen and visitors alike. Among these facilities is an auction hall, covering an area of 943.5 square meters, which serves as a bustling marketplace for the sale of fresh catch. Additionally, a spacious parking area spanning 21,076 square meters is provided to accommodate vehicles belonging to fishermen and visitors.
Internal roads measuring 526 meters traverse the harbor, facilitating smooth transportation within the premises. Furthermore, Chombal Harbour boasts a range of additional amenities designed for the convenience of its users. These amenities include a landing jetty for boats, a dormitory for overnight stays, a locker hall for secure storage, a gatehouse for administrative purposes, a canteen offering refreshments, and a toilet block for sanitary facilities.
