PT Usha – Payyoli Express

Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha, popularly known as P. T. Usha, is an Indian track and field athlete from Kerala state. She is nicknamed the “Payyoli Express” as she was born in the village of Payyoli, in the Kozhikode district. In 1976, the Kerala state government established a sports school for women, and Usha was selected to represent her district. She has been an active figure in Indian athletics since 1979 and is considered one of the greatest athletes India has ever produced. Usha currently runs the Usha School of Athletics at Koyilandy in Kerala.
